Red Bull Sound Select – 3 Days in Portland Music Festival & Fashion Show Social Good Activation, Facebook Live Stream, PR + More
M4G brought a strong social good component to Red Bull’s 3 Days in Portland festival and an accompanying fashion show to raise awareness and enhance Red Bull’s reputation as a brand that gives back to the community. We worked with two renowned charities that serve the LGBTQ community: national non-profit The Ally Coalition and Portland’s Sankofa Collective Northwest.
The fashion show featured rising designers including NoSesso, which created a denim top specifically for the event, and donated a percentage of sales proceeds donated to Sankofa and The Ally Coalition. Red Bull streamed the fashion show via Facebook Live and garnered more than 200K views. The three sold-out show took place at Portland’s Wonder Ballroom and Crystal Ballroom. Numerous national & regional media outlets covered the events, including The Huffington Post, Portland Mercury, Oregon Live, NBC, Eyes & Edge Magazine and I-D Magazine.
Gretsch Guitars – Four-day activation at SXSW Music Festival with Impactful Artist Relations & Consumer Marketing Opportunities
M4G worked with Gretsch Guitars on 4 full days of events & activations at the SXSW Music Festival. We facilitated artist relations & product demo opportunities as well as consumer-facing marketing. We were tasked with helping Gretsch make in-roads into the indie rock community, building on relationships it has established with legendary artists including George Harrison and Neil Young. At day parties and an evening showcase with performances by dozens of rising bands, we put together a welcoming green-room area where artists including Margo Price, the Big Pink, Bob Moses, Car Seat Headrest, Everything Everything and others relaxed, checked out the newest Gretsch guitars and filmed video content for Gretsch’s website & social media channels.
Red Bull Sound Select – Social Good Activation + PR
M4G Media worked with Red Bull to create an exciting charitable component & social good initiative for the Red Bull Sound Select concert in Portland, OR, partnering with a renowned local nonprofit to raise awareness & funds for the charity & enhance Red Bull’s brand reputation.
· Connected Red Bull with nonprofit Rock ‘N Roll Camp for Girls, which builds girls’ self-esteem through music creation and performance. The nonprofit also helped market the concert and promote the partnership to its networks via social media, email and more.
· Concert-goers created custom event posters on site, and performing artists such as Bully autographed the posters, with all proceeds going back to support the Rock ‘N Roll Camp for Girls.
· Did PR for the event and garnered prominent coverage in national & regional media outlets including The Huffington Post, Oregon Music News, Portland Tribune, Eleven PDX and more.
Orange Amplification – Orange Gives Campaign, SXSW Event Activation & Social Media Campaign
M4G worked with Orange Amplification to create a three-day activation at the South by Southwest Music Festival, featuring new product demos and Orange gear on stage during performances by Future Islands, Charli XCX, EMA and other notable artists. We also facilitated artist relations opportunities with dozens of renowned bands and artists.
What’s more, we created the #OrangeGives social media campaign & competition. Every time someone used the #OrangeGives hashtag on social media platforms, Orange made a donation to the music education charity Little Kids Rock. The campaign garnered Orange thousands of new social media followers across platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram while raising thousands of dollars for a worthy cause. Pandora – Music & Activism Panel & Charity Service Project
M4G worked with Pandora and The Ally Coalition to put together the panel “Music & Activism: Amplifying Your Voice for Social Good” at SXSW and implemented a service project for the local Austin homeless shelter, Front Steps.
Immediately following the panel, we invited audience members and musicians, brands and SXSW-goers to put together gift bags for the shelter. Volunteers of all ages including members of Arcade Fire & State Radio came together to assemble gift bags full of shaving supplies, warm socks, healthy snacks and more. We then loaded up the sporty red vehicles that Mazda generously lent us to transport the gift bags from the Austin Convention Center to the front doors of Front Steps.
Spinning for a Cause: Event Concept and Strategy, Naming, Brand Sponsorship, Nonprofit Partnership
M4G worked with Campus DJ and Chegg to create the national Spinning for a Cause competition. During sold-out events at renowned venues including the Avalon in Los Angeles, college DJs competed to be crowned the top Campus DJ in the nation. Chegg awarded generous cash donations to the charity of the winning DJ’s choice. We worked with Campus DJ to create their giving-back strategy and to determine and vet the best charities to partner with for the campaign each year. We also brought renowned DJ controller brand Hercules on board as an event sponsor.
We worked on Spinning for a Cause in 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons.
M4G worked with the Grammy Museum on the Concert for Social Justice. The event launched the Speak Up Sing Out initiative, which encourages youth to write songs about social issues they’re passionate about. The sold-out concert took place at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles in April 2015 and featured performances by Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, Melissa Etheridge, David Crosby and Graham Nash, La Santa Cecilia and more, as well as spoken-word performances by actors including Martin Sheen, David Arquette and Alfre Woodard.
